The University of Stirling and Stirling Students’ Union have announced the scrapping of graduation ceremony fees.
The decision – taken last week after several months of consideration, including discussions with the Students’ Union – means students will, from this year, not be charged a graduation ceremony fee by the University.
Previously, a £50 administration fee had been applicable for those attending graduation ceremonies – although the University had already removed charges for those graduating in absentia.
The University’s Deputy Secretary, Joanna Morrow, said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional graduation experience, we are pleased to confirm students will not be charged fees to attend graduation ceremonies.”

“We are happy to have this working relationship with the University, and it’s great to see them take student feedback on board.”
The University already also offers eligible students financial support to cover additional costs, such as gown hire, for graduation ceremonies.
