BIOU7CQ: Conservation Practice

Aim

To provide practical work experience for students aiming for a career relating to conservation.

Course Content

A 1-month work placement during the summer. Placements will be arranged during winter/ early spring, to suit the interests and summer-time location of the student. Previous placements have been arranged with the Scottish Natural Heritage, The Bat Conservation Trust, The Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Some students have continued voluntary or paid work with the organisation after the end of the placement.

Summer vacation between years 3 and 4

Pre-requisites

This module is only available to Conservation Biology and Management students

Assessment

Pass/fail. This will be based on a report requested from the placement organisation as to whether the student performed satisfactorily.
