My Library Record


Login Login to My Library Record Now

My Library Record is the section within the Library catalogue that contains your unique Library information - you can use it to check what books you have out on loan and on hold, the items you have booked from Short Loan Collection, your reading history and details of the books you have rated. From here you can also renew your books and search the catalogue to place holds.

 

Setting up My Library Record

To make use of many of the services available on the catalogue you will need your library barcode the number on the front of your student or staff card and a password. To set up your password select My Record Login from the top of the catalogue home page. The following screen appears:

Type in your surname, barcode and leave the password box blank then click on Submit. You will then be asked to fill out another form with your name and barcode and then type in your password. Students should enter your network password, staff should select a password.

Problems with logging in

If you forget your password, or enter an incorrect password you will get a message 'Invalid PIN' on attempting to login. If this happens you can choose to set a new password. Select the "Forgot your Password?" link on the My Library Record login screen. You will be asked to enter your name and barcode (the number above the barcode on your student ID card), and then a message will be sent to your University email address, this message will include a link to a web page where can create a new password for My Library Record. When logged in you will see a screen similar to the one shown below

Messages from the Library

If we need to contact you, we will sometimes put a message on your record which you will see when you login to My Library Record. Please get in touch when asked to!

Renewing Books

When you are in My Library Record it will tell you how many books you have borrowed. You can renew any items you have on loan, as long as there are no holds / recalls on them. Select the item you wish to renew and click on Renew Selected. To renew all items click on Renew All.

To see a list of holds you have placed, click on Requests (holds), you will see a screen similar to the one below. Select the item you wish to cancel and click on Update List. To cancel all holds click on Cancel All


Cancelling Short Loan Collection Bookings

To see a list of Short Loan Collection bookings you have placed, click on items booked for future use, you will see a screen similar to the one shown below. To cancel a Short Loan Collection booking select the record and click on Cancel Selected. To cancel all Short Loan Collection bookings click on Cancel All

Your book ratings

It is possible to rate materials in the Library catalogue. To see a list of items which you have rated and to change or remove these ratings you need to be logged intoMy Library Record. Click on My Ratings, a list of the items you have rated will be displayed. To change any ratings, hover the mouse over the stars and click at the appropriate star. To delete ratings which you have made select the record and click on Delete Marked. To delete all ratings click on Delete All.

Your reading history

You can use My Library Record to see a list of books which you have borrowed. This can be useful when you are writing a bibliography, however the list will not include journal articles. To see the list click on My Reading History. To delete a book from this list select the item and click on Delete Marked, to delete all items click onDelete All. It is possible to opt out of the reading history service at this point too.

Please note that once an item has been deleted this action can not be reversed.
