Exchange Universities

The University, as an international institution, offers student exchange arrangements with other universities in many countries. Stirling is currently involved in ERASMUS exchange agreements with 26 universities in Europe. Some 65 Stirling students each year study in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Please note, nomination to ERASMUS exchange places takes place within the participating department and not through application to the International & Study Abroad Office.

The University first offered this exchange in 2004 and it was the first programme to be offered in mainland Asia. Located in the heart of Kowloon, City University offers a wealth of opportunities to explore this culturally diverse region. You can study in a wide range of areas including business, marketing, media (combined degrees only) and biological and environmental sciences.

Students may study for either one or two semesters at CUHK. The university provides visa assistance, housing and an international exchange student support service.

This is one of the University of Stirling's most long-standing and successful exchange partnerships. Based near Chicago, UIUC is ranked amongst the top universities in the world and offers courses in a wide range of subject areas. Lawrence, based near Kansas City, is one of the main college towns in the United States. It is in the US top 100 for quality and offers great opportunities for University of Stirling students within a variety of subject areas. Located in Syracuse, a beautiful part of upstate New York, Le Moyne offers a good range of business and liberal arts courses. The environment at this small private college is strongly academic, and the facilities available are excellent. Umass is just a few hours from both Boston and New York City, located in the beautiful New England town of Amherst. It is a great student town and has a wide range of courses available for University of Stirling students participating in the exchange.

The University of Miami's main campus is located on 260 acres in the city of Coral Gables, just south of Miami. The university considers itself global in terms of both its broad range of academic programmes and its highly diverse student body. The University of Mississippi, or 'Ole Miss' as the university is more commonly known, is the flagship University of the State of Mississippi. With a beautiful campus located in Oxford, Mississippi, Ole Miss offers students the opportunity to experience the American South in all its finery. Most degree programmes are permitted.

Located on the Atlantic coast, UNCW is a long-standing exchange partner of the University of Stirling and a rising star in the public university system of North Carolina. UNCW offers the perfect environment for learning and living, one that is dynamic, demanding and engaging. Most degree programmes are permitted, with a particular emphasis on Biological and Marine sciences.

This new exchange offers the unique opportunity for one student to participate in a paid internship at the Office of International Programmes during their time at UNI. Anyone interested in international education as a career should certainly consider this exchange. UNI is a state university of around 13,000 students, located in Cedar Falls, Iowa in the heartland of America. Most degree programmes are permitted.

San Diego State University *new exchange*

Located in Southern California, SDSU is a large university of 34,000 students within the California State University system. This new exchange offers University of Stirling students the opportunity to study in a large and diverse campus environment and enjoy the California climate. Most degree programmes are permitted, but students in management, film and media and journalism degrees may have difficulty securing modules.

Washington State University

The University of Stirling has been participating in an exchange with WSU since 1993. Internationally renowned, WSU is located in Pullman, a vibrant college town in eastern Washington State. This is a highly residential campus and the area offers a range of outdoor activities only a short distance away. Most degree programmes are permitted.

University of Wisconsin (at Eau Claire, La Crosse and Stout)

Students have the opportunity to study at one of three universities within the University of Wisconsin system. Most degree programmes are permitted between all three campuses.

90 miles east of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St Paul, UWEC is home to around 10,500 students and offers a wide range of academic programmes including history, management and sport and exercise science. Their Center for International Education offers a strong support network for exchange students.

The university is based on a compact 119-acre campus offering students a vibrant place to live and learn. UWS is a smaller, career-focused campus with a total enrolment of around 8400 students. Located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, the university blends theory with practice to produce innovative solutions to real world problems. UWS works closely with business, industry and other educational institutions to benefit its students and grow the economy.

The University of Wyoming is a land-grant university located in Laramie, Wyoming, around two hours north of Denver. This is a great area for skiing and snowboarding, hiking and rock-climbing as well as a diverse range of cultural activities. The university is prominent in the fields of environment and natural resource research, so students in environmental science would find this a particularly rewarding exchange. Most other degree programmes are permitted.
