The Federico García Lorca Reading Group

07 May ‘14

5.00PM - 7.30PM

Venue: Room E26, Pathfoot building, University of Stirling

The Federico García Lorca Reading Group will meet again to discuss the current fascination within Spanish and Latin American Studies with ghosts, personal and historical traumas in particular, but not exclusively, through their representation in contemporary cinematic and literary narratives. To be more specific, we will examine the themes and contexts pursuit in the Spanish novel and its cinematographic adaptation of Soldados de Salamina (2001), the French film Caché  (2005) and the Chilean Nostalgia de la luz (2010). We will welcome any comments or discussion on any or these films but also encourage the inclusion of any other examples of this pervasive interest in contemporary cultures on the legacy of personal, social and historical events.

Everyone is welcome to attend, academic staff, postgraduate, undergraduate students and general public. It is not essential to be on time or remain until the end of the session. If you have any queries or suggestions, please feel free to get in touch with: antonio.sanchez@stir.ac.uk; guillermo.olivera@stir.ac.uk; mauro.dilullo@stir.ac.uk
