Hamid is the author of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, shortlisted for the 2007 Man Booker Prize. One of the most lauded and provocative novels of recent times, drawing comparisons to Nabokov, Dostoevsky, and the Arabian Nights, the novel is a coming-of-age story that explores the confident pre- 9/11 world and the paranoid new world that succeeds it, through the eyes of an immigrant who is by turns seduced and sceptical.
