7.30PM - 9.40PM
Venue: Macrobert Filmhouse, University of Stirling
The film that made Ozu's reputation in the west, Tokyo Story sees an elderly couple leave their rural home in Onomichi to visit their married children in Tokyo. Their reception, however, is disappointing. With their son and daughter too preoccupied to spend time with them, only their daughter-in-law makes time for them despite the fact that her young husband has died during the war.
The film is being shown as part of the University of Stirling's Japanese Week and this and other events are open to staff, students and members of the public. Please visit our website for details of other events.
