Lyrical Abstraction - The Eloquence of Material. An exhibition of contemporary abstract stone sculpture by Japanese sculptor Hironori Katagiri and Scottish sculptor Kate Thomson. The work of this married couple shows a unique cultural synergy of complementary, yet very individual approaches. While Kate Thomson explores sculpture as language and philosophy to create a tactile poetry of space, form and light in marble; Hironori Katagiri's black granite abstract forms have a spirituality shining out from the inner essence of the material like the glint of a Japanese sword.
The exhibition is part of the University of Stirling's Japanese Week. Please see the website for details of this and other events.
The Pathfoot building is open from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday and from 11am - 3pm at weekends.
