1+2 in Primary Schools: which languages should the children of Scotland learn?

12 Nov ‘15

4.00PM - 7.00PM

Venue: Stirling Court Hotel, University of Stirling

The University of Stirling is delighted to welcome you to an event hosted by the School of Education with speakers: Professor Alison Phipps, University of Glasgow (Policy); Joanna McPake, University of Strathclyde (Gaelic); Fhiona Fisher, Scottish CiLT (European languages); Dr. Arlene Holmes-Henderson, University of Oxford (Latin and Greek); Louise Glen, Education for Scotland (Scots); and Fan Lin, Confucius Institute (heritage languages).

As Scotland prepares to introduce a second foreign language into the curriculum in primary schools, this event will invite members of the public to critically engage with the government's policy and consider the benefits of language learning for children in different social and educational contexts.
