Property Management

Property Management Division responsibilities include the development and day-to-day management of the University's estate and its buildings, roads, footpaths and external areas, this includes:

  • Management of major building and estate development projects
  • Management of minor building alterations and refurbishment works
  • General building maintenance and service repairs Help Desk including emergency works
  • Maintenance and repairs of roads, car parks and footpaths, including snow clearing
  • Management and organisation of all works carried out on a cyclical basis, including regular inspections and servicing of plant and equipment such as lifts, ventilation and heating plant. All inspections and works required to meet Statutory Legislation including Fire Authorities, Public Health, H & S, etc.
  • Strategic Management of University Space
  • Organisation of regular condition surveys on all University properties and preparation of rolling maintenance and refurbishment programmes within the limits of funding.
  • Control of Requests for new and additional keys/locks
  • Operation and management of all utilities/services including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, gas supplies, oil suppliers, hot and cold water distribution, drainage and electrical distribution systems.
  • Environmental custodianship
  • Management of the University’s commercial space

Works are carried out by a combination of in-house technical staff and external contractors.

Our main external contractors (including Framework Contractors) are selected as a result of detailed tendering processes to ensure value for money. In addition all contractors working on University of Stirling properties must comply with specified requirements regarding Health and Safety, insurance, etc.

Gardens and Grounds

The Gardens and Grounds Section has responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the 300 acres that make up the university campus. This is made up from parkland, formal gardens, loch and the Hermitage woodland. The Gardens and Grounds section are also responsible for the many sports fields and nine-hole golf course. It is also within their remit to undertake snow and ice clearing and salting of paths and roads.
