Student Services Hub

Our friendly and welcoming Student Services Hub team is your first point of call for a wide range of student enquiries.

Got an enquiry?

Visit us in our Hub accessed via Queens Court entrance of Cottrell Building (click here for a map of the Cottrell Building).

Please note! From 6th January 2017 the Student Services Hub has moved into the new location detailed above.

Why have we moved?

We want to provide our students and staff with a much lighter, brighter and more comfortable dedicated space!

What else has changed?

Nothing!  All the services that are accessed via the Student Services Hub in 2Z will remain exactly the same.  You can still call on 01786 466022 and email Ask@stir.ac.uk.  Our opening hours will continue to be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a 10am opening on Tuesdays to allow our amazing team to undertake staff training. Our busy times are 11:00 to 14:00 daily, so if you're in a hurry or don't want to wait you might want to try visiting outside of these hours if possible.

Why have you created a new Student Services Hub?

The Student Services Hub was created to make it easier for students to get the assistance they need. Rather than having to work out what service you need to get in touch with, you now just have to contact the Student Hub team, call one single number, or send one email to ask@stir.ac.uk Our team will assist you or will find the person who can!

Have the services you offer changed?

We still offer all the same services as before, such as support for disabled students, counselling and wellbeing, budgeting advice, information about housing or welfare benefits, access to STEER mentors, advice for students who are thinking about changing a module or programme, support for study, access to the Job Shop, advice about your future career, or facilities to make payments. All that has changed is that we've created a new single contact point to make your life easier.

Will I still get to see my usual Adviser?

From now on, there will be  a Duty Adviser in place - based in 2A1, the Student Services Hub, Queens Court entrance of Cottrell - to provide support to our Student Hub team. If the Student Hub team can't answer your question, the Duty Adviser will be on hand to assist. The Duty Adviser you talk to will depend on the day of the week. However, they are all trained to be able to provide you with the support you need and to deal with crisis situations if they arise.

If you have a support worker in place, such as a Mental Health Mentor or a Study Skills Tutor, these arrangements will not change.

Will confidentiality be affected?

The Student Services Hub staff are all part of the Student Support Services team, which is part of Student, Academic & Corporate Services. They take your confidentiality very seriously. To find out more about how we protect and use your personal data, please read our confidentiality and data sharing statement
