There were 5 universities and college participating teams which included Dundee University, West Scotland Universities/Colleges Select, Abertay University, Napier University/Edinburgh college and the hosts University of Stirling (pictured above). The teams, comprised of a mix of experienced players and those completely new to the sport, reflected the skills and team spirit demonstrated by all squads in some tightly fought games throughout the tournament.
The tournament and the training session’s prior activity have laid the foundation to form the first disability sport club within the Sports Union. Furthermore, the Sports Union is continuing to work with Scottish Disability Sport, Forth Valley Disability Sport, Basketball Scotland and Tennis Scotland to form a university and community multi-sport club. This project not only breaks down barriers for disabled students but it also highlights the inclusive aspect of sport, in that able body and disabled students can play sport together.
