About the Dementia Fund
The Dementia Fund exists to provide academics and researchers with critical funding towards their work. We are also working towards providing scholarships for those working full time in the care industry to take our modules in Dementia Studies here at Stirling in order to promote best practice and enhance their work in caring for those suffering from Dementia.
University of Stirling is currently conducting dementia research that has the potential of bringing about positive, lasting, and meaningful improvements in the lives of those with dementia, as well as their families and carers.
- Current research projects into dementia include: decision-making in care provision, the role of community-based care provision, and the importance of a dementia-friendly neighbourhood.
- Through an approach of collaboration, our research is conducted by a team with a diverse range of experience - our research team spans professionals from health and social care, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and also carers and people with dementia – all working to a common goal.
- Our research into dementia has been pivotal in guiding policy and practice in what is rapidly changing landscape of dementia care and service delivery.
- We are also delivering research looking at those with an onset of dementia at a younger age, in minority ethnic groups, and those with an alcohol-related brain injury.
