Eileen Schofield

The Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary has overall responsibility for the University’s professional services, including internationalisation and partnerships, communications, marketing and recruitment, information systems, student and corporate services, finance, human resources and organisational development, sport, estates, research and innovation and commercial services. She is also responsible for providing support to University Court, the University’s governing body and all of its committees.

The Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary is directly responsible to the Principal and Vice Chancellor for the management of more than 1,000 staff with an annual budget of approximately £38M, including commercial services, and works closely with the other senior members of academic and professional services staff to achieve the effective management of the institution.

Eileen Schofield

Eileen was appointed as Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary in 2014. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Secretary in Stirling, a post she held for 5 years. Before then she was Director of Planning and Deputy Director of Policy, Planning and Governance at the University of Aberdeen.

Eileen is a graduate of Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and holds a BA Business Studies. Following graduation she qualified as an accountant and worked in several finance roles, culminating in the role of Senior Faculty Accountant for the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences prior to moving into Planning.
